In 2025, girls soccer varsity succeeded  to establish  the team for the first time. They prolonged  a long silence for many years but it  was time to start the girls soccer varsity in Cornerstone. 

After the soccer tryout on February 19th, over nine people were accepted to the soccer team and Mr.Bin who is the manager and coach of  the soccer varsity decided to cancel most of the soccer games  in March and fill it out for the extra training. Since it is their first try, it can be slower than other varsity teams, but many had the expectation to be a good chance to inspire other girls to join and encourage great success. 

However, on March 19, Mr. Bin gathered the students in girl soccer varsity and announced that girls soccer varsity will be disbanded because three students went out and it seriously affected the team to maintain the soccer varsity team. 

Then why do  female students not join the girls soccer varsity? 

After interviewing several students we were able to get a glimpse of the reason why.  

Yena Kwak: The reason why the girls are not joining this time is because this is the first time that girls soccer varsity was made, leading  people to believe that it will not be stable. Also there was rumor that Girls soccer varsity will not play, so I  believe there is no point in paying money. 

Emily Song: In basketball, we need a minimum of 5 players whereas for soccer we need a lot of students to run in the field (over 9 players). For soccer, running time is very long compared to basketball running time. 

Rachael Pai: For basketball, there is an elective class which we can learn and practice basketball while having fun.. However, soccer doesn’t have an elective class so we can not experience the sport and have to do varsity without learning and practicing enough.

Utilizing this interview, we can improve the drawbacks and gather more students to join the soccer varsity. We hope these problems are reformed and encourage many students to join the soccer varsity.
