As the lowerclassmen and juniors went on their adventure to Koinonia, other students and the seniors stayed behind where they enjoyed their single night in school, making memories about the bittersweet reality of college applications and the joyful moments with their peers. The SAD (Seniors, Anxiety and Depression) camp began at Cornerstone in 2023 and has been an essential part of senior year since then. It became a time where you could solely focus on your college applications and also make fun out of it through engaging activities.
The highlight of the whole SAD camp is the senior night, a senior exclusive night where seniors meet up together at school and share hopes and concerns for their future. This year, senior night was filled with exciting events and activities that brought enthusiasm to our doors. One of the events arranged by our SBC was the candy bowl challenge. Each student was responsible for bringing a pack of candy prior to the event, where they filmed a short form video introducing themselves and the candies they brought. Then they poured the candies in a big bowl to create a big candy mix. The video was uploaded on the official SBC instagram page, and many people enjoyed watching it from Sokcho. Other than the candy bowl challenge event, there were other fun activities such as watching a horror movie (Noise) , having a snack party, and making bracelets. But it wasn’t just about fun on senior night. Seniors had a one-on-one meeting with Ms. Sophia Lee, discussing their future plans and the upcoming deadline for their college applications.
One of the attendees from senior night, Tony Jang said “It was a great experience for me and I was happy to spend my time with my friends! If I had another chance, I would definitely join [the camp] again.”
It sounded like everyone enjoyed the SAD camp and it was good to hear that the event was academically helpful and fun. It was surely a special night for seniors and I hope the next upcoming seniors could look forward to the next SAD camp.
