This fall, Cornerstone welcomed two new teachers into the community. We interviewed: Mrs. Yunhye Park, who teaches math, and Ms. Marguerite Scheepers, who teaches English. Through this short interview, we hope to share their stories and perspectives they brought to Cornerstone.
Mrs. Yunhye Park
Q: Could you introduce yourself shortly?
A: Hello! My name is Mrs. Yunhye Park and I teach math, including AP Calculus AB, Honors Algebra 2, and both regular and honors Geometry.
Q: What has led you to come to Cornerstone?
A: My previous school was quite far, so I was looking for a K-12 school closer to home.
Q: What do you think about the cornerstone community so far?
A: So far, it has been very good. The teachers are nice, and while I’m still getting to know the students, I look forward to learning more about them.
Q: What is your favorite activity to do outside of class?
A: I enjoy spending time with my family, especially visiting dinosaur museums because my son loves dinosaurs.
Ms. Marguerite Scheepers
Q: Could you introduce yourself shortly?
A: Hello! My name is Ms. Maggie from South Africa, and I’m one of the new teachers here at Cornerstone. I love teaching and getting to know students, and I’m really excited to be part of this community.
Q: What has led you to come to Cornerstone?
A: I was drawn to Cornerstone because of its strong focus on learning and its caring environment. I wanted to be part of a school where both teachers and students are always growing together.
Q: How would you describe the school’s culture?
A: I’d describe the culture as warm, supportive, and welcoming. Everyone I’ve met here—teachers, staff, and students—has been so kind and helpful. It really feels like a place where people encourage one another.
Q: What book or author has inspired you the most, and why?
A: One author I really love is Jane Austen, especially her book Pride and Prejudice. I admire how she writes about strong, thoughtful characters and the importance of kindness, respect, and understanding others.
