Cornerstone’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams recently took part in the SKAC tournament in Jeonju. Before the tournament, both teams practiced intensely to prepare for the big day. This season, coaches and players are focusing on teamwork, regular practice, and skill improvement. With the new season and new members, the teams are ready to face challenges and show how hard they have worked.

The tournament was exciting and competitive. The boys’ basketball team played really well and won first place, and the girls’ team worked hard and finished in third place. After the games,we interviewed one player from each team. They shared their thoughts about the tournament and their goals for the rest of the year.

Yeeun Kim (G10)

Q: What was the most memorable moment for you in this tournament?

A: Our first win of the season after two straight losses was the most memorable moment of the tournament.

Q: What do you think helped your team win third place?

A: I think it was our spirit. We were all engaged and passionate both in and out of the court. Cheering and supporting each other was key to our first win.

Q: Is there anything you want to say to your teammates?

A: I LOVE MY TEAM <3

Justin Kim (G11)

Q: What was the most memorable moment for you in this tournament?

A: The most memorable moment for me was the exact second we won the trophy. Hearing the final buzzer and realizing we were champions felt unreal. As captain, lifting the trophy with my teammates beside me was the moment I’ll never forget.

Q: What is your team’s goal for this season?

A: Our goal this season is to keep improving our teamwork and stay consistent. We want to push ourselves in every practice, compete with intensity, and represent our school with discipline. Of course, we aim to win more games and tournaments, but our main focus is growing stronger as a team.

Q: How do you feel about winning first place in the tournament?

A: Winning first place feels amazing, especially because we worked so hard for it. I’m proud of my team for staying focused and supporting each other through tough moments. As captain, it means a lot to see our efforts paying off, which motivates me to keep leading by example.

Both teams played with so much passion, improved every day throughout the season, and had great chemistry on and off the court. I am proud of what we accomplished and hope to build on that this season. Through the dedication and commitment of their players and coaches, Foundation’s basketball teams look forward to another successful season.
