Dear Cornerview readers,

Hi, this is Emily Song, the one and only senior in Cornerview! You may know me from my science and technology articles, especially my pieces on Physical AI and AGI. As the only graduating member of this student-led magazine, I’ve been grateful to connect with and learn from so many amazing people here.

I joined Cornerview in the second semester of my freshman year, and continued through the full years of junior and senior year. Two and a half years in Cornerview have been truly unforgettable. As I wrap up my journey here, I would love to share a few takeaways that took me this long to realize.

Be present in the moment, and jump into wherever a random conversation takes you.

I will never forget the day I joined Cornerview. It started with a small chat with a former Cornerview member Dahee Chun, when she suggested that I join the magazine. It was a brief chat, but her confidence and enthusiasm inspired me to try writing an article, something I never imagined myself doing. Looking back, I couldn’t be more proud that I said yes.

This is a question that I love thinking about: “If you could read a book without flipping back the pages, how would you read it?” I would probably read every page very carefully. Now, think of the book as your life. How would you read every page? I want to make the most out of every page, trying everything, embracing every moment. Every action and choice leads to unexpected opportunities. So why not throw yourself into everything that excites you?

Don’t chase the story. Let the things you love become the story.

On the first day of joining Cornerview, everything from choosing what to write about and writing an opening sentence felt difficult. But over time, I learned how to craft my own headlines and develop article ideas that I’d love to discuss. Writing about things that I was genuinely passionate about (for me, it was AI and technology) was exciting, and sharing those stories with the Cornerstone community was what made it truly meaningful.

You grow the most within a team.

Senior year was the toughest year, with new challenges in balancing college applications, extracurriculars, and taking a new role of managing editor. As I took on that new responsibility, I began giving respect to every former editor because reviewing many articles and giving feedback to them was indeed time-consuming. Reading through articles and giving feedback showed me how differently each person thinks, and those interactions between Cornerview members made our team more connected.

That was when I grew the most. From meeting deadlines to organizing everything such as Mr. Lee’s surprise birthday party and Cornerview’s Winter Festival sticker sales, every moment was meaningful. I especially value the fact that Cornerview is a student-led magazine, and that every article written, reviewed, and designed goes through the hands of students.

I want to thank every Cornerview member and staff for their hard work and dedication, and especially Mr. Lee, for his guidance through the entire production process (And a special shout-out to his Pikmin keyboard sounds!) I hope Cornerview gives you the same drive and inspiration that it gave me throughout my high school
years. Please keep uploading new articles on our lovely website!

With warmth and gratitude,
Eun-Seo Emily Song
