Since the 2025-2026 Cornerstone school year, golf has been included in the CCAS varsity team to compete in the KAASA league. Our school has a long history of golf electives, but there is no varsity team for it. Owing to the start of golf varsity, many students are looking forward to showing their sportsmanship and their performance.

In relation to this, I also had the opportunity to interview Mr. Hamilton, the coach of golf varsity. Coach Mr. Hamilton explained that candidates were primarily selected based on consistency in performance, but emphasized that “the most important factor was each individual’s effort to push their potential to the limit. Since golf demands a high level of precision, consistent effort is essential.” He also shared that “the Cornerstone golf team will begin by competing with other schools through screen golf, but ultimately our goal is to perform confidently and consistently on real golf courses as well.” Concluding with a message to the school community, Mr. Hamilton stated, “I have been deeply impressed by the passion of the students who joined the team, and I believe that our community’s core value of supporting one another will be a great source of strength for us.”

We also had an interview with  9th-grader Yunsik Kim who recently joined the golf team. During the interview, the student said, “Although I have been playing golf for 10 years, this is my first time competing against peers my age.” The student added with confidence, “I have never received professional golf training, but by learning from my grandfather and through the coaching I will receive from Coach Mr. Hamiliton, I believe I can overcome any opponent.” When asked about what the most important value was to him, the student answered, “Cooperation. Although we play golf individually, by practicing together and improving as a team, we can experience many positive outcomes.” He emphasized that while golf is an individual sport, mutual cooperation is important.

The new Cornerstone golf varsity team is more than just another sports team. It is the start of a new journey for our school. With hard work and teamwork, the players are not only improving their own skills but also opening a road that no one has tried before. They are not just team members, but pioneers of the brand new Cornerstone golf varsity team, striving to be the winners of the KAASA league.
