On January 31st, 2024, Samsung unveiled their newest product: The Samsung Galaxy S24. This sophisticated piece of technology attracted a lot of attention, mainly because of its new features. The prices of the phone would increase by 100 dollars, compared to the S23 generation. The base lineup would start at $799.99, the Plus lineup would start at  $999.99, and the flagship Ultra lineup would start at  $1,299.

The design and appearance of the phone lineup looked almost identical to the previous S23 series, although there were some slight changes made. One of the minor changes that Samsung made to their new phones was the increase of the phone’s display screens by 0.1 inches in both the S24 and the S24 Plus. However, there were no display changes for the S24 Ultra. Another minor tweak that was made to the phone is its sides. While in the S23 series the sides of the phone were curved and rounded, in the S24 series the sides became flat.

The cameras of the S24 were identical to its previous version, with three cameras placed on the top left corner. The camera’s quality features were the 50 MP main camera, the 10 MP 3X zoom lens, and the 12 MP ultra-wide camera, coupled with the 12 MP front camera.

However in the S24 Ultra, the camera lenses were more advanced than the S24 and S24 Plus, with the main difference being that the Ultra had a 200 MP main lens instead of the S24’s 50 MP, and also had an additional 50 MP 5x zoom lens. This improved the camera lens even further, allowing the phone to take tack-sharp photos.

The battery rates of the S24 base lineup also increased slightly, with it having a 4,000 mAh battery on the S24 compared to the S23’s 3,900 mAh. Samsung also changed the material of the S24 Ultra from aluminum to titanium, which gave the phone an improved appearance and stronger protection. The phone’s chipset also improved, with a Snapdragon 8-gen Gen 3 chipset applied to the S24 Ultra while the S24 and S24 Plus  either has the Exynos 2400 processor or the Snapdragon 8-gen Gen 3 chipset depending on which geographical region it was bought in.

One feature that the S24 Ultra has that the S23 lineups do not have is the anti-reflective display. This feature reduces reflection off of phone screens by 75%, removing unwanted reflections and adding clarity to the display screen. However, The most significant change that Samsung made to their Galaxy S lineup was the introduction of Galaxy AI to their phones. The AI boasted numerous features and useful assets, such as photo management and camera support.

One of the AI’s abilities is called the “Circle to Search” feature, where you could circle any part of an image, and Google would then search up related items to the part of the image that you have circled. This feature would be handy, as it allows you to browse and look up items that you are curious about through circling the objects in images.

Another remarkable feature that Samsung AI provides is the “live translate” ability, where you can call a person who speaks a different language and have the conversation translated into your own language through the live translate feature. This tool will be particularly useful when used for trips abroad.

Galaxy AI also introduced a feature called photo assist that helps Samsung users to manage photos like never before. For example, you can remove unwanted objects or move them around just by circling them, and the AI can even recommend different settings to improve the look of your photos.

The introduction to Samsung AI has significantly upgraded the Galaxy S lineup, especially in camera performance and general tasks. It also revolutionized the phone industry, as it was the first company to implement AI into their phone devices, and would stand as a pioneer of AI phone technology. This unprecedented feature of built-in AI’s would enhance phones to be more advanced than before, and would be a stepping stone for advancements in AI technology.
