After iPhone 15 was announced to be released on Oct. 13, it garnered a lot of attention. The starting prices remain the same as the previous iPhone 14, with the regular lineup starting at $799 and the pro lineup at $999. However, several significant changes have been made compared to the previous model.

First, the material of the iPhone is changing from matte glass and stainless steel to titanium. Titanium is lightweight and durable, but it may be considered less premium compared to stainless steel. The shift to titanium is a novel choice in the smartphone market.

Second, the iPhone is finally adopting a C-type port. Apple has stuck with the Lightning port in the past, citing environmental reasons. C-type offers advantages such as faster data transfer and charging. The convenience of using a single C-type cable for charging across MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones is a significant benefit.

Lastly, there are changes in the appearance. The notch at the top of the phone has been replaced with a Dynamic Island. While the previous iPhone 14 only featured Dynamic Island (displaying content that’s running background) and Always on Display (limited information while the phone is asleep) in the pro lineup, both are now available in the regular lineup. However, there are still significant differences in camera pixel performance and 120Hz promotion between the regular and pro lineups.

These innovative changes have generated excitement among many, but some have current concerns about heating issues. The titanium material is prone to color change due to overheating. In response, Apple acknowledged this issue officially and has swiftly provided a software update to address the heating problem.

These factors have divided consumer opinions. It remains to be seen how popular iPhone 15 will be in South Korea upon its official release on the 13th. If Apple continues to update the software to completely resolve the heating issue, the advantages mentioned above should be sufficient to ensure strong sales in South Korea.
