Foreign Leaguers

Son Heung-min
Tottenham 4/1/0 2nd Place
Current Statistics (FotMob):
Current Rating 7.69
6 matches / 5 Goals / 0 Assists

After Tottenham has signed a new, unpromising coach, Ange Postecoglou, they have seen a significant change in their team. Harry Kane, former ace of the team, left the club and the three former captains, Kane, Dier, and Lloris, were kicked out from their positions. To cover up the captain positions, Son and the two new players, Cristian Romero and James Maddison, were promoted as the new captains of the group.

Under Ange Postecoglou, Son has been assigned a new position: One top center forward from Left winger. His first match as an only center forward was nearly perfect. He scored three goals, bringing in a great win. Furthermore, in the most recent match against Arsenal, the biggest rival of Tottenham, Son scored two brilliant goals, proving his status as the new captain.

Kim Min-Jae
Bayern Munich 3/1/0 2nd Place
Current Statistics (FotMob):
Current Rating 7.19
5 matches / 0 Goals / 0 Assists

This season, Kim Min-Jae was signed by FC Bayern Munich with a transfer fee of €60 million. In the first few matches, it was clear that Kim was still adapting to the completely new environment with different team members and coaches. He made huge goal-leading mistakes due to pass misses, especially when he was against FC Augsburg.

However, in the game against Borussia M’Gladbach, Kim’s passes seemed to be significantly more stable. With two successful long passes and numerous creative through passes, he has shown great potential as the new center back of Bayern.

Lee Kang-in
Paris Saint Germain 2/2/1 5th Place
Current Statistics (FotMob):
Current Rating 6.95
2 matches / 0 Goals / 0 Assists

Lee Kang-in is having a hard time in his new team, Paris Saint Germain. In his first match, he got a leg injury which lost him three matches. Although his first game showed Lee to be a potential replacement for Neymar, we will need to see more matches from him for further analysis.

Hwang Hee-Chan
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1/0/4 16th Place
Current Statistics (FotMob):
Current Rating 6.98
5 matches / 4 Goals / 0 Assists

Hwang Hee-Chan is having a better season than last season. However, there needs to be more improvements. While it is true that he has scored 3 goals in 5 matches – which is a great achievement – his other statistics are far less impressive. For instance, in his match against Liverpool, he only had 25 touches and 1 shooting.
Hwang Hee-Chan seems to be a great super-sub, however. His powerful sprint can make him a Joker card of the team.

A Match (Korean National Team) (Opinion-Based)
Just by looking at its members, the current Korean National Team is in its golden age. With over ten players playing in the European league and four in the Premier League, the national team can be considered as the strongest team in Korean football history.

However, the recent two matches of the national team, under Jürgen KLINSMANN, were chaotic.

Although the scores were up to standard, the strategies of the national team were devastatingly erroneous. Specific attack tactics weren’t evident, and the roles of each player wasn’t clear. As the games against Wales and Saudi Arabia progressed, the tactical plan remained elusive, making the match rather boring.

The biggest problem was the significant gap between defense and offense from the early stages, and within that gap, Park Yong-woo, a midfielder, was isolated and had nothing to do. To resolve this situation, Hwang In-beom needed to drop back and support the defenders, but Hwang In-beom showed a bizarre tactic by positioning himself alongside Son Heung-min and Cho Geu-sung. Furthermore, the most shocking thing is that, as was the case in the A-matches in June, there was no detailed plan at all, and I could clearly see that Coach Klinsmann believed that having a lot of players in the forward position constituted an attacking football.
