On Nov. 23, 2023, Cornerstone Collegiate Academy of Seoul held its first-ever bazaar event, at the Yangjae Neighborhood Park. The park is about a 5-minute walking distance away from our school, so everyone could easily participate.

With this article, I would like to share how my day was participating at the bazaar, as a Cornerstone student myself.

On the day of the bazaar, the day started off as a half day schedule. After the last period, I returned to my homeroom and received a brochure with a map and information on the many booths at the park. At 12:30, my homeroom finally headed to Yangjae Neighborhood Park. The weather was fortunately not too cold. On our way, I was excited at the thought of visiting the many things that both students and parents had prepared.

Once I arrived at the place, the booths were already packed with big crowds. I could easily spot many hungry students who were already lined up at the food booths. There were various options to the food such as Korean popcorn chicken, tteokbokki, chicken skewers, fish cakes and other Korean snacks. Having given up on getting food any time soon, I wandered the park to have a look around. After a few minutes, I bought green grape ade to quench my thirst. The drink tasted refreshing and sweet.

After I fueled up my energy with snacks, I headed towards the activity booths with my friends. The first activity booth I visited was laundry basketball. In this game, players have to throw the object inside the laundry basket. Between a table tennis ball and a sack, I chose the table tennis ball for more challenge. Unexpectedly, I made it with my first attempt. As a reward, I got four candies. I kept one and gave rest to my friends because sharing is caring.

Out of all the booths, I remember visiting the air blaster toy gun booth the most frequently. In this booth, the players have to knock all the cups with an air blaster. The prize for people who succeed was a gigantic goose plushie, which I – and all my other friends – was determined to win. While waiting for our turns, we prayed that the students ahead of us wouldn’t win. I was not able to win the giant goose, but I congratulated other students who did.

Mid-afternoon, the high school orchestra and band gave short performances. Since I felt the need to take a break, my friends and I decided to watch the performances. The tranquil performance of the orchestra soothed my ears. During the band performance, the chemistry between two vocalists made a good harmony. The band was remarkable.

As the sky was starting to get covered in a blanket of orange-colored clouds, we realized the bazaar was almost coming to an end. Everyone started to fold tables and chairs and cleaned up the mess we made. I am grateful to hear the bazaar had a great start and end. The bazaar made a meaningful event for each and every person.
