State of the union
The State of Union happened in the United States this week Friday. It is held every year in congress with congressmen from both the Democratic and Republican Party. The State of Union is a traditional event held by the president, in which he gives a speech in front of congressmen. The president of the United States would usually use this time to announce promises or progresses that he made last year. Since most Americans pay attention to this event, it is a great opportunity for the current president to advertise his achievements. Just like last year, many serious topics were discussed. Some of the topics discussed included the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Hamas war, and environmental and economic crises.
President Biden strongly warned Russia and Putin to stop the invasion of Ukraine. He mentioned that only America can stop the war and talked about military weapons. Related to this topic, he did not forget to mention NATO and its allies. This is very controversial to the Republican party who demanded protection fees from European countries and allies. Biden’s statement showed a clear difference between the ideology of the Democratic and the Republican Party.
Biden also did not forget to mention about the environment-friendly jobs along with climate change. Out of eight hundred thousand new manufacturing jobs in America, Biden promised to make tens and thousands of clean energy jobs by 2030. Controversial to the former president Donald Trump, Biden showed a more mild view toward the environment.
As most leaders from all over the world wonder, Biden has revealed the future plan for the US economy. He mentioned that the U.S. GDP has increased since he became the president. He stressed that the education system was the reason why the United State became the economically strongest country in the world.
Despite the fact that this event is held every year, it sure has a traditional value and this event will go on as long as the United States remains as the strongest country in world.
