Breaking News: Students should arrive at Gimpo airport by 5:45 a.m.
All Cornerstone high school students were required to assemble at the Gimpo International Airport, which is about 40 minutes from Cornerstone Collegiate Academy of Seoul Yangjae campus by car. After hearing this laughable news, which the majority of teachers and students believed was a ridiculous challenge to overcome, SBC decided to come up with an overnight event that would take place the day before Koinonia: KOINONIA ZERO.
Unlike general overnight events from SBC, KOINONIA ZERO aimed to help more than 100 students arrive at the airport by the designated time – and with adequate sleep. Therefore, instead of planning many activities, SBC prepared a late-night snack and put students to bed at 10 p.m. In the morning, SBC woke students up at about 4:30 a.m. and put students on the rented bus after providing breakfast. About 20 people came to the overnight event and more than 5 people joined in the morning for the morning bus. Thanks to the SBC event, about more than 30 people were able to arrive at the airport on time. A new student to Cornerstone commented, “It was a lot of fun. However, I wished there was a longer hangout time.” This event was a successful overnight event that really lightened students’ pressure to arrive at the airport on time.
While a trip that takes place over multiple days, or a very early flight for the entire student body do not happen very often, this overnight event may set a good precedent of what could be done to ensure punctuality of the students (and teachers). It has not been confirmed yet whether KOINONIA ZERO will return in the next academic year, but if the next Koinonia Camp is also set to require an early flight, but if it does, it could attract more students.
