On a bright afternoon of September 28, the Life-Giving Tree Organization, a shelter for children from single-parent families in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, was filled with excitement. Over 30 students gathered for the much anticipated “Dance Camp.” This event was a collaboration between the members of the Green Tree Club and the Dance Club of CCAS, who had spent more than a month preparing a fun and meaningful experience for children of ages 6 to 14.
Before the actual event had started, the Green Tree Club members split into two groups, one focused on dancing and the other on singing, to practice for the Dance Camp. During club periods, the dance team practiced choreographies for “Yumeiro Patissiere (꿈빛 파티시엘),” “Can’t Stop Praising (멈출 수 없네),” and “Attention” by New Jeans. Meanwhile, the singing team chose and practiced songs they would be teaching.
On Saturday—the day of the Dance Camp—members from both clubs arrived at the Life-Giving Tree Organization. They were full of excitement and were warmly met with the enthusiastic welcome of the children. After setting up the stage and the music, the Dance Club members led the choreography, while other club members helped guide the children through the movements. Surprisingly, many children were already familiar with the song “Can’t Stop Praising” and its dance.
The children especially enjoyed dancing “Yumeiro Patissiere,” so some broke into smaller groups for more focused practice. After that, everyone sat down together to sing the gospel song “Can’t Stop Praising.”
It was a touching moment as the children sang along, immersed in the music. In the end, the CCAS students and the children all stood up once more, made a large circle, and danced and sang the songs they had practiced together. It was followed by a round of applause that celebrated the enriching time they had shared.
As the day came to an end, the club members couldn’t wait to start planning for their next visit, as they were all filled with ideas for more engaging activities with the children. Their collaborative efforts provided meaningful experiences that allowed both the children and CCAS students to learn and grow together.
These actions of spreading positive Cornerstone spirit proved to be a highly valuable time, and it would be great if more interested clubs join in the future.
