At the dawn of 2025, Cornerstone students (and I) headed to Greece on a two week adventure. This would be an adventure where one would get to know more about the culture of Greece, know more about the history, and also get to visit beautiful locations.
Starting at Incheon airport on Jan. 1 2025, the Greece group would meet up and take the plane to Istanbul, and from then on the trip to Greece would commence.
Santorini
Santorini can be found in the Southern Aegean Sea. We would go to this island and visit multiple places, such as the Kamari beach, the town of Fira, and more. One of the best views of Santorini that I have seen in my opinion is in the village of Oia, at a place where two churches, the ocean, and the white buildings show. This is my favorite view because the blue domes of the churches, the ocean, and the white buildings combined made a spectacular scene. And it was more beautiful to see it when there was sunny weather.
In the village of Oia, we participated in a group photography competition, where the group with the best photograph taken on a specific condition in Oia would get a cash prize given from the guide pastor, with there being several different cash prizes that had different conditions that had to be correct for it to be won. And so we played in that competition until it ended and the winners for each prize type got their prizes.
Athens
Athens is the capital of Greece, and there are many places to look at here. One example would be the Acropolis, where there are structures such as the Parthenon or the Temple of Athena Nike located on top of it. We would head to these places and take photos. We could also see the city of Athens below them, and it looked nice.
Crete
Crete is a Greek island that can be found South of mainland Greece. On this island, we were able to go to places such as the Palace of Knossos, which is an old palace created by the ancient Minoan civilization. This palace contained a lot of broken structures, and there were old frescos and rooms to look at.
Olympia
In the Archeological site of Olympia, the place of inception for the ancient Olympic games, we would participate in some games made by Cornerstone teachers in the ancient Olympic Stadium. This is where our two teams that were premade (two groups made one team) would compete and play simple games such as racing on the field, throwing a ping pong ball as far as you can, doing the three-legged race, and more.
