Previously on The Great Grasin War

After the Great Grape was stolen by the Raisins, the Grapians vowed to take revenge. A small troop force of Grapian soldiers entered the Raisin valley, a part of the Raisin territory. But they were ambushed by the Raisins, causing them to retreat. The first victory of the Graisin war had been granted to the Raisins. And thus the Great Graisin war continues…

Chapter 3: Discussions Within the Grapreme Gourt

Once the news of the defeat at Raisin valley spread to the grapian government, they were shocked. Never in their 200 year history had the Grapians been defeated by the Raisins. Infuriated, the Grapreme Gourt ordered the military officers to expedite their preparation for a full on land invasion onto the Raisin territory.

“But sir!” said one of the grape officers. “Wouldn’t it be better to invade the Raisins via sea? The Raisins have poor defenses there, and utilizing the Asparagus inlet would be much easier than going through via a land invasion.”

The members of the Grapreme Gourt thought about this, and came up with a flaw to this plan: the Asparagus inlet was completely owned by the Asparagatians, a neutral state. If they were to invade via this inlet, the asparagatians would not be pleased.

“What about secretly using the inlet during the night?” One of the officers asked. “That way, the Asparagatians won’t notice us. Plus, the Raisins would lose their guard if we invaded during the night!”

Another Grapian opposed the idea. “That means that we won’t be able to use our gradar! Our best weapon! We would have to be on Gradio silence the whole time! This plan is not gonna work!” “No it will!” “No, it won’t!” The two grapians fought against each other, first with words, then with fists.

“Order in the Gourt!” The lead Chief Justice

shouted, hitting his gavel against the podium. The fighting was broken up by the grapians, who pulled the fighters aside.

“We seem to be under a predicament,” the Grapreme Gourt leader said.”Peers, what do you think about this idea?”

The nine other Grapreme Gourt of justices continued to ponder about what to do. Sure, not using gradar to attack the raisins by utilizing the Asparagus inlet undercover was a risky move, but it fared better than invading with a land invasion. Every Grapreme Justice eventually agreed to the asparagus inlet plan, and orders were immediately taken to start arming the Grapian Navy. The Grapian officer who suggested the idea was thrilled.

“Finally!” he said. “My idea is Grape-worthy!”

Chapter 4: The Eve of Battle

At the port of Grapius, warships and transport ships lined the docks. The transport ships were used to carry Grapian soldiers, whilst the battleships carried guns and torpedo launchers to bombard the shores of the Raisin territory. The flagship, the GGS (Great Grape Ship) Vine, would lead the attack, followed by smaller, but quicker, warships. All ships would be camouflaged with black, light absorbing paint, so that the ships can be concealed in the dead of night.

Eventually, after three laborious days of preparing, everything was set, and the Grapian navy headed off towards the asparagus coast. A total of 25 ships were to be in this invasion, 15 of which were transport ships, and the rest battleships.

After a day of sailing, the Grapian approached the asparagus inlet during the dead of night. All lights were turned off in order for the ships to be not seen, and all ships maintained gradio silence.

“Load the guns, Carry the ammunition bags, Check the hatches,” Sir Muscat quietly said. He was commandeering the GSS Vine, and was going to make his enemies pay for what they did to his troops a few days ago at the battle of the Raisin valley. He knew that this time, failure was not an option, and that they had to win this battle.

As the ships entered the Asparagus inlet, the grapians could see the asparagatian coast miles away, their coastal batteries glinting against the moonlight. They shuddered, hoping that the camouflage and the dusk were enough to prevent them from getting detected.

For the entire night, the grapian navy sailed through the inlet, its ships leaving slightly visible wakes.

All of a sudden, an explosion was heard in the distance. Everyone on the GSS Vine froze. What was that sound?

In the distance, the coastal batteries on the asparagatian coast started firing. Have they detected them?

Everyone stared at the shell as it arced across the sky. It landed in the water miles away from them. Another shell landed miles away as well.

Eventually everyone realized that the coastal batteries weren’t aiming for the ships.

“Attention sailors, do not engage, I repeat, do not engage.” The loud speaker announced quietly. “It seems that the asparagatians are doing practice drills, and have not detected us. We will proceed with our quiet plan and demolish those raisins!”
