In 2011, pro-democratic civilians of Syria came out to call out the authoritarian president, Bashar al-Assad for his dictatorship against the citizens. The protest consisted of walking and chanting that wasn’t violent. But soon after, the protesters were met with deadly force. Assad’s military used weapons and violent ways to crush the protesters that left many injured or dead.
This shocked the entire citizens of Syria, and many other protests arose from the deaths of the protesters. And every time, Assad’s military suppressed the protest through violence. Assad’s government restricted any anti-government actions and the anti-gov’n organizations started to decentralize. The decentralization caused different branch organizations to be formed and they had a common goal:Eliminate Bashar al-Assad.
Many armed organizations were made to fight against Assad’s dictatorship putting Syria in complete destruction of war. Even now, Syria is engulfed in the violent reality of war. Many reports are shown revealing horrific tortures and terrible conditions the prisoners are put in.After the civil war got more exposed to external countries, other countries have started to intervene in the war. Since then, the situation in Syria has gotten more complicated with many different countries fighting behalf of their propaganda.
