Penumbral Lunar Eclipse – March 25, 2024

As one of the major astronomical events in 2024, the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse is near its arrival. By March 25, we can observe a penumbral lunar eclipse. It would be lovely to see this event. The next Penumbral Lunar Eclipse is in 2027, 3 years of waiting is a little too boring. We better not miss this rare, stark moon flying in the sky before it goes. Lunar eclipses are one of the most renowned astronomical events happening widely, and intermittently. You can easily check them out without telescopes or professional items. In addition, the Penumbral lunar eclipse is the rarest among all the other lunar eclipses.

A penumbral lunar eclipse is an event in which the moon is shaded by the penumbra of the earth, penumbra is a partially shaded region of the earth. So either penumbra or umbra is the shaded region of Earth against the Sun. The Penumbral Lunar Eclipse is a lunar eclipse with a shaded area on the surface of the moon. So you can observe the darkened moon. For usual eclipses, its occurrence is relatively handy, but the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse barely comes up. This obscure event only comes 0~9 times a century, I strongly believe that it is worth having them in our eyes.

We can see the contrast in the brightness. The penumbral lunar eclipse shows the aesthetics of the deviated intimacy. The 2024 penumbral eclipse is on the 25th of March, specifically at 10:24 AM for the first contact of the moon and the penumbra. The penumbral lunar eclipse will take place within most of the regions including Korea. In Korea, we can see the eclipse from 6:29 pm. Worldwide, It will go along with the penumbra for 12 hours, at its climax at 12:43 PM and to its last contact at 3:01 AM. A dark moon is happening in the sky, you can capture it with your camera, or enjoy it with your eyes, and everything. We sometimes need interests in our lives. Why don’t we go and have this formidable experience that Nature suggests? Not only lunar eclipses but there are myriads of astronomical events.
